The Truth About Gluten-Free Soda

No matter how you pop the lid on this, soda is bad for you. Even sugar free soda, though low in calories, is still full of chemicals and creates a dependence on it. Have you ever seen someone addicted to soda? They’re like junkies jonesing for their diet soda.
Just because a beverage is gluten/sugar-free doesn’t make it good for you and sugar substitutes have a history of controversy around them. Artificially sweetened food products and beverages are not magical freebee foods that you can consume at will.
You’re not fooling anyone with that sugar substitute and you’re definitely not fooling your body. American’s consume more sugar free sodas than ever, and we as a Nation are heavier than ever. As discussed in this Time article, research has shown that people who consume diet sodas are actually more likely to be over weight.
This doesn’t mean you should ditch gluten-free sweeteners and beverages for the real thing, it just means you need to seriously look at what you are eating and limit your intake of even some gluten-free products because all gluten-free products are not created equal.
