Everyone’s trying to balance the budget these days and eating gluten-free can be challenging when you’re on a tight budget, but with a few tricks and tips you can save a lot of money and stay gluten-free!
Make your own snacks – Don’t buy pre-packaged snack packs and foods, it’s always better to make your own. Take those stale corn tortillas, bake them in the oven and make chips. Use left overs to make snacks for the next day.
Potatoes – Potatoes are fantastic because they are inexpensive, you can get them pretty much anywhere, you can do so much with them. You can add them to soups, chili, salads…you can eat them with meat, or make chips out of them.
Buy in bulk/Stockpile – Some gluten-free items can cost a tad more so a great way to save is to buy in bulk when they are on sale. You can buy canned veggies, soups, meats, gluten-free pasta and frozen foods in bulk, saving lots of money.
Know where to shop – Plan ahead on where you’re going to shop. Different stores have different prices for various items. The farmer’s market, grocery store, and specialty stores are all good for various things. You may need to hit more than one market to get the best deals on the items you like.
Coupons – Check your newspaper and online for coupons on the items you use.
Shop online – Before you run to the market for an expensive item, see if you can find it online for cheaper. Many online stores offer free shipping and bulk items that are shipped directly to your home. You save gas, time and you don’t have to carry the items home.
There are lots of tricks and tips for saving money. You definitely need to look around to make it happen but it’s worth it.
