How To Workout With Your Kids

Maintaining good fitness habits is incredibly beneficial for the entire family, but it could be difficult to monitor with conflicting work, school and social schedules. Frequent exercise is necessary for overall health, and while gyms aren’t the most kid-friendly environments, there are several ways you can meet your fitness goals with the kids in tow. Here are a few ways that you can make getting and staying fit a family affair.

Bring out the bikes. Kids are always looking for reasons to ride their bikes, so use that as a chance to strap on the helmets together and go!

Exercise during errands. Ditch the elevators and take the stairs when possible, and make it a game by racing each other to the top. On trips to the mall or market, try to park farther away from the store to get in a mini-walk to and from the car.

Sign up for races. Many walk-a-thons and races have routes appropriate for all ages. Register for a weekend race in your town, especially if it’s for charity. If you have really little ones, see if the race permits strollers and bring your tot along for the ride.

Practice makes perfect. If your kids are involved in organized sports, practice with them before games. It will help improve their skill set and will increase your stamina since you'll have to keep up. .

Turn up the tunes. Let your kids be the DJ and have a dance party! Dancing is a fun way for the whole family to let loose, and will do wonders for any of your children that may be wallflowers. It's amazing how quickly you can work up a sweat while having fun.

Do an obstacle course. Set up indoor or outdoor obstacle courses around the house, and encourage everyone to try to beat each other's completion times.

Sign the family up for CrossFit. There may be a CrossFit course in your area, so see how you can get the whole gang involved in this discipline-building program.
