Few decorative pieces can illuminate a room quite like a well-selected chandelier. Gone are the days when chandeliers were mostly ornate, spectacular fixtures reserved for lavish homes and estates. Now, there are all types of chandeliers that range from traditional crystal fixtures to more creative bamboo, metal and painted pieces that appeal to nearly every taste and design scheme. Take a look at some of these chic chandeliers, and find out how you can make them work in your home.

The chandelier you select will likely be the focal point of your room, so make sure the color, shape and size complements the current décor. This pink bamboo piece works well in a space that’s low on color, but rich with personality.

If selecting a fixture for the dining room or kitchen, pick a chandelier that has a diameter that is one-half the width of the table that it will hang over. By doing this, you'll avoid getting a piece that's too large or too small for your room.

Mini chandeliers and lighting fixtures, like this silver piece, are great accents for the powder room as they add a touch of glamour without distracting from the space.
