Recently on “The View,” we discussed how soon pregnant women should start maternity leave. For many, taking time off of work while pregnant simply isn’t an option. See what we had to say about it here:
Do you think women should be able to take more time off during pregnancy?

No! I'm 5 months pregnant and I'm a teacher. It is physically harder and harder for me to do my job, walking kids up and down stairs, moving furniture, hanging up charts, squatting/bending down all day etc... and I;m only going to get bigger!! I blame all those liberal feminists from the 70's!!! I WISH it was the 50's, women got to stay home and raise their kids, and most of my 30-38 year old friends agree!!! Unfortunately, it's not an option. Oh and by the way, teachers have the worst maternity!! -
She should certainly not be paid while taking the time off. If she can afford it, she should not be working with children under school age and she should be available when they get home from school. I know some have to work but if at all possible stay home with your kids. -
Women should get a year of maternity leave, and once she is still productive, it should be up to that woman when she takes it. Whether she chooses to start her maternity leave at her 6th month of pregnancy and return when her baby is 8 mons old OR to leave at 9 mons preg and return when her baby is one year; it should be her choice
