With Memorial Day coming up this Monday, it’s important to remember the men and women who have lost their lives so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have. The holiday is a great time to reflect with the whole family about patriotism, and even if your little one doesn’t fully understand Memorial Day’s significance, you can help them commemorate they day with just a bit of creativity. Here are a few ways the entire family can celebrate Memorial Day on Monday:
Fly the American flag outside of your home.
Read kid-friendly books about Memorial Day together, like this one called Memorial Day Surprise.
Bring homemade desserts and snacks to V.A. hospitals and military bases.
If you're attending a parade or event, teach your kids how to salute the servicemen and women, and encourage them to shake their hands.
Make patriotic crafts together and talk with your kids about the holiday as you create them. Use this time to talk about the different charities that help soldiers and veterans, like Team Red, White, and Blue.
You can see TEAM RWB along with my favorite things on today's episode of The View, and you can support the organization by wearing the eagle!
Memorial Day is such a wonderful holiday to spend with loved ones, and it’s even more special when everyone can truly appreciate and understand it.
Who will you honor on Memorial Day?

Thanks EH, for those tips. As a Veteran, I can attest that your support for our Sailors and Soldiers is much appreciated.
Debby and Jan, my thanks to your family members that served. Support at home is important to us, so thank you too.
God bless. -

My father's brother is someone we always honor and remember on Memorial Day. I am so glad to see you are telling people about this holiday and that it's more than just a day the banks are closed.
