Jim Nemec, an army veteran and founder of the Western Pennsylvania chapter of Team Red, White, and Blue, has organized a 5K to raise money for a Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
The idea is for participants to gather donations of 93 cents, with all proceeds getting donated to the Flight 93 Memorial Chapel. The 5K will take place in South Park, Pennsylvania, then a Team RWB group will run 93 miles, relay-style to Shanksville where they will present the donations to the Flight 93 Memorial Chapel.
Nemec is a dentist and a volunteer assistant football coach at a local high school. He says this about the importance of volunteering:
“I’m a big believer in volunteerism…volunteerism is the heartbeat of American communities.”
How do you volunteer in your community?
